Kilsyth is in North Lanarkshire. It dates back to Neolithic times. In the 17th century when it was a stopping point on the road from Glasgow to Stirling. Textiles developed in the 18th century and mining in the 19th century. Drumbeck Colliery closed in 1963. Today new private housing has been built and increasingly it is a commuter settlement and local service centre.
