Dunblane in Stirling Council was an early burgh with church based origins from the 7th century when St Blane settled there. The Reformation saw Dunbalne decline in importance although the cathedral was rebuilt in the 1890s. Today its accessible location on the railway line and close to the motorway linked to Glasgow and Edinburgh has seen it expand as a commuter settlement.
