Muir of Ord, Highland

Muir of Ord in Easter Ross is in Highland. The town developed after the bridging of Cromarty and Beauly firths in the early 1900s taking the place of the former village of Tarradale. It was located on an important droving route which led to cattle trysts which would give the town its name. It retains an agricultural role in the area. It is no longer on the main route north. Distilling continues to be important to the town.
